Avoid Spending Pitfalls!

Posted by admin

With all the advantages that are evident from personal budgeting, it is no wonder that more and more people are relying on them to reduce debts and increase their savings.  However, all ‘budgeters’ need to be careful to avoid some common pitfalls that  appear often and this will greatly increase your chance on How to get Debt Free.

Credit cards may seem like small pieces of plastic, however they can cause a great deal of trouble for the owners.  It is common for people to make unwise purchases, which they would have avoided otherwise, because they had the credit card in their wallet.  The best solution for many people is simply to get rid of credit cards and begin paying only by cash, check, or debit cards.  You may want to keep one card handy for emergencies, but it is probably best to keep it out of reach, and far away from your wallet.

Another problem with budgeting is impatience.  There are financial goals set, but people do not have the patience to complete a savings program.  For instance, an individual begins setting aside money for a new car; however, after a few months they discover the car of their dreams.  Rather than waiting, they make the purchase.  This could pose some serious financial strains on How to get Debt Free.  Discipline is a must to prevent impatience from breaking your budget.

Once a person makes a budget, they often fail to adjust it when necessary.  A budget is created using a set of expenses and income figures that are liable to change.  As these figures do change, it is important that the budget changes to reflect the adjustments.  There could be some major deficits if this is not done appropriately and promptly.

Of course nobody forgets about Christmas or Hanukkah, however many people do not consider budgeting for holidays when creating a budget.  Therefore, adequate funds have not been set aside for presents, food, parties, etc.  These items should be factored in and saved for throughout the year.

Finally, many people factor in transportation and accommodations for vacations in their budget, however they underestimate money needed for food, entertainment, and spending money.  Keep in mind that all the resorts and tourists areas are double or triple what you would normally pay.

With a little planning, you’ll be on your way to saving more money than you ever thought possible!

Secured Debt:

These are debts you make using collateral (assets you own).
A good example would be a home equity loan; this type of loan uses your home as
collateral. Collateral is an asset you own and would use to guarantee repayment
of the loan plus interest by giving the lender the right to take your asset if
you do not repay as agreed to. The most concerning thing about secured debt is
what you will lose if for some reason you can’t repay your debt, you could find
yourself without a roof over your family. This is another reason to learn how
to get debt free.

Unsecured Debt:

Unsecured debts are debts (loans) that do not require
collateral. These debts include credit card debt, signature loans etc. Qualifying
is tough in most cases and they carrying a higher interest rate because the
lender is taking a bigger risk. The lender is loaning money that is not
guaranteed by collateral. These types of debt are probably the reason that you

water. You need to deal with this type debt today not tomorrow or you may find
yourself over your head in debt.

Budgeting – Critical step

Posted by admin

Budgeting is the most critical step in How to get Debt Free, if you don’t know how much you spend and on what you spend it on then how in the world do you think you can ever get debt free. Budgeting is not rocket science but it is like pulling teeth to most people. I think the reason for this is most people think it will limit them on what they can buy. This is true to a certain extent but if you budget correctly then it could possibly mean you can afford what you want. By this I mean that if you budget then you will learn your spending habits and can cut out the meaningless spending thus providing you with the means to afford what you think you can’t. We all spend on things that we shouldn’t and at times that we shouldn’t, that is called splurging. Think about it if we don’t splurge then that might lead to more money in our pockets, it will definitely mean that you can pay more on your debts.

Budgeting is definitely the most important tool that you can use to get debt free, and without a budget then it will be very difficult to get rid of your debt. This should be the first step you take in your quest to become debtless. There is plenty of budgeting software available some that are free some that you can buy and there is always the spreadsheet that can be used. It is not that hard to create a spreadsheet for your budget, it may take a little bit of effort. If you don’t know anything about creating a spreadsheet then there are books that teach you for example Excel for Dummies just to name one. By using a spreadsheet you can make your budget as simple or complex as you want just depends on how much you know or want to learn. The main thing here is just to start your budget as soon as possible thus getting debt free sooner.

Debt Negotiation

Posted by admin

Debt is a real burden when used in an unmanaged way. Whenever debt becomes a burden then it must be dealt with or it begins to manifest ill effects through out your life, via health issues, family problems and considerably more shackles that all bind you down. Debt Negotiation can be an effective tool in How to get debt free.

Debt Negotiation can be interpreted in many different ways but we are not talking about trying to eliminate the actual debt you owe, we are talking about negotiating with the lenders on the interest rates and/or repayment schedule. I want you to understand that you are responsible for your debts and should make all efforts to repay them, but that does not mean that you shouldn’t try to negotiate on the terms. This type of method works best on credit card debt but is not limited to just that kind of debt.

Negotiation starts with your credit card company and your goal should be to reduce your interest rate (APR); if successful then it would be comparable to a balance transfer to another credit card company. You will approach the company and ask them for assistance with your debt by way of a reduction in APR, explain to them that you are trying to clear off your debt. If successful then you would have negotiated your interest rates lower than your current rate thus saving you allot of money and time that would be associated with trying to find the right type of balance transfer. If your credit card debt negotiations work out well, you might be able to get a really low standard APR or you might get a longer term on 0% APR, or both.

On the flip side if your debt negotiation does not work then you are left with finding a credit card company that is offering a desirable APR (0%) and doing a balance transfer or possibly looking for a consolidation loan.

This is a valuable method on How to get Debt Free, don’t be reluctant to try this method, you have everything to gain.

Credit Card Debt – Reduction

Posted by admin

So you have finally came to the point where its time to
start reducing and/or eliminating your Credit Card Debt. So how do you reduce credit card debt? First
you need to prevent it from increasing and then by paying it off. Simply,
right!

Not exactly. Credit
Card Debt
is a very serious debt do have, it accumulates at a rate that is
alarming, between the interest rates and the types of purchases that people
make. When I say types of purchases I mean the disregard of some people to make
purchases they would never make with cash, but with the unemotional connection
to plastic then they go ahead a make the purchase only to regret it later, when
the credit card bill comes in. So having said that the first order of business
is to:

Prevent Credit Card Debt from increasing. This is the
first steps on reduction of your credit card debt. Now how do we prevent debt
from increasing and being of dangerous proportions? Balance transfers and use
of cash. You need to research the possibility of transferring your high
interest cards over to a low interest credit card. This will take some research
on your part mainly because not all offers are the same. You have to study the
fine print on how the interest rates are accumulated. When comparing offers
make sure you understand the initial offering on 0% introductory offers. These
offers will always have a specific amount of time that 0% interest rate applies
and if you are late on a payment then the interest rate could jump suddenly to
the higher rate. You will also need to be aware that the interest rate will not
stay at the 0% rate indefinitely so use this time wisely. During the 0% rate
time you need to payoff as much of the balance as possible for maximum results,
so you need to be dedicated to the process.

The second step of Credit Card Debt Reduction is once you have made your balance
transfers then STOP USING YOUR CREDIT CARD!!! If you continue to use your
credit cards then you have defeated the purposes of credit card reduction. Use
cash to make all your purchases. It is a lot harder to pull cash out of your
pocket than it is to pull out the cards. Doing this will make you stop and consider–Do
I really need this item.

Be smart and dedicated to yourself on Credit Card Debt -
Reduction and soon you will find your credit card balances have been greatly
reduced or possibly even eliminated. This is How
to get Debt Free
.
